What the County gives you
The County has some of the best vineyards and small restaurants in the province, the towering freshwater dunes and beaches of Sandbanks Provincial Park, and a slow, pastoral pace that photographs beautifully in golden light. It is close enough for a weekend, quiet enough to feel like yours, and noticeably more affordable than a comparable day in the city.
The honest tradeoff
The County is seasonal, at its best from late spring through the harvest and fall colour, and it does get busy on peak summer weekends, so a weekday is ideal. It does not have Toronto's skyline drama if that is the picture you are after. But for vineyards, dunes, and a day that feels like a proper getaway, it beats the city on almost every count.
