What a Vancouver Elopement Actually Costs in 2026

The BC licence, multi-jurisdiction permits, and the full experience budget. The honest numbers, and why comparing photographer quotes line by line misleads.

You price a Vancouver elopement by collecting quotes and picking a number in the middle.

Across four permit jurisdictions and Vancouver weather, that is how you compare things that are not the same.

The quote is not the cost. What the quote includes is the cost. The median local wedding tops $35,000; an elopement is a fraction of that, done right.

The legal and permit floor

The BC licence is $100. A commissioner runs $300 to $750. Stanley Park ceremony-site permits are roughly $100 to $250. Call the floor $400 to $1,100 before photography.

The legal and permit floor lands around $400 to $1,100 across the licence, the commissioner, and any ceremony-site permit. Modest next to the photography, which is the part that lasts. — stationary

Why the comparison misleads

A local rate and a fly-in rate that bundles travel are not the same product. And in this city the key skill is making rain and low forest light beautiful rather than being defeated by them, which the cheapest quote rarely reflects.

I am not printing a price grid. The tiers, and what each holds, live on one page.

With me, photography and videography are both in every tier, and I file the permits myself. No add-on column, no permit surprise. Twelve years and 240+ couples in, the couples who compared what was included are the ones who did not overpay for less.
