What to Wear for a Buenos Aires Elopement
European boulevards, colourful port streets, tango, and a temperate climate. What photographs well in the Paris of South America, with the season built in.
You plan tropical beach attire for South America.
Buenos Aires is a temperate European city, and it asks for something more like Paris.
Dress for a European capital, and lean into the drama the tango streets invite.

The grand boulevards and Belle Epoque architecture suit a clean, elegant silhouette, and the temperate climate means a tailored coat or wrap works as part of the look across most of the year. This is a city that rewards a considered, dressed look over a beach-casual one.
Elegance for the city

Colour and the tango
Against Recoleta's stone and the leafy boulevards, ivory and classic tones read cleanly, and a deep jewel tone suits the city's drama. Against La Boca's saturated painted walls, a considered colour holds where a busy pattern would compete, and a touch of tango-inspired red or black belongs.
Test the outfit for a walking city day first, and let me plan the session around the golden light and the jacaranda if it is in bloom. Because I film as well as shoot, fabric with movement earns its place twice, especially in a tango frame. Twelve years and 240+ couples in, the couples who dressed for the European city moved through it with ease.
