They drove north up the east coast of Vancouver Island until the highway thinned out, and got married on a bluff above the Strait of Georgia with the Coast Mountains still holding snow on the far side. One officiant, no guests, and a cooler in the back of the car. The day started in the garden of the house they had rented and ended fourteen hours later under string lights, dancing on wet grass. In between there was old-growth forest, a driftwood beach, a bottle opened on a log, and a very long stretch of gold. Sixty-eight frames, one roll, no second shooter.
