Why elope in Mexico

Mexico is the most logistically accessible destination wedding country for North American couples, and it rewards that access with genuinely extraordinary photography. The coastal light, particularly in Los Cabos and the Riviera Maya, has a quality that photographers talk about in the same way they talk about Tuscany: warm, golden, and consistent at the right time of day. But Mexico's inland cities offer something different: colonial architecture, cobblestone plazas, and a cultural richness that produces images with real specificity. I photograph across Mexico regularly, from the desert drama of Baja to the Baroque density of San Miguel de Allende to the jungle coast of the Yucatán. Every region is a different visual world.

The light

Mexico's equatorial sun creates a golden hour that arrives reliably and burns intensely for 30 to 45 minutes before softening into the blue hour. The combination of warm light and warm stone, whether desert sandstone in Baja or the limestone of the Yucatán, produces a palette that is extraordinarily difficult to achieve anywhere else.
