Castle hotel. Rocky Mountain backdrop. Light that makes the Rockies glow.

Arman’s take

Banff is Canada's destination wedding capital for a reason: nowhere else in the country puts a Château-style castle hotel against a backdrop of mountains this dramatic. The Fairmont Banff Springs is one of the most architecturally spectacular venues I have ever photographed in, and the surrounding national park gives portrait sessions a landscape context that is simply unmatched on the continent. Emerald Lake Lodge, Canmore's mountain venues, and the peaks themselves all offer something different. I love shooting in Banff in the fall specifically — the larch trees turn gold in October and the mountains behind them go from green to grey-white, and the combination is extraordinary.

Light & atmosphere

Banff's altitude gives the sky a particular depth — bluer and clearer than at sea level — and the mountain landscape creates natural compression in wide-angle shots that makes the scenery look even more dramatic than it does in person. The Bow River at sunset is one of the most reliable golden-hour portrait locations I use anywhere in Canada.

Questions

Frequently Asked

Does travel cost extra for a wedding here?+

A modest destination surcharge applies for locations that require overnight travel — like Whistler, Banff, Tofino, and the Thousand Islands — since these involve flights or ferry crossings and accommodation. The exact amount depends on logistics and we go over it together on the discovery call.

How much does wedding photography cost here?+

Packages start around $4,000–$6,000 CAD for shorter coverage, with full-day and luxury options going higher depending on add-ons and travel. I go over exact pricing on a discovery call.

How far in advance should I book for a destination wedding in Canada?+

14–18 months ahead for peak season. These locations book fast — especially Banff in July and Tofino in September. Reach out early.

Do you handle permits for outdoor shoots?+

Yes — I research and advise on permit requirements for national parks and public lands as part of the planning process.

What is your photography style?+

Editorial and film-inspired — cinematic, intentional, and rooted in the landscape. I work in both a directorial editorial mode and a quiet documentary mode throughout the day.

Do you offer engagement sessions?+

Yes, included in most full-day packages. For destination weddings I often recommend doing it on location — the light in these places is something else.

How many photos will we receive?+

Typically 500–700 edited images for a full day, in a private gallery within 6–8 weeks. Sneak peek within 5 days.

Do you offer wedding videography?+

Yes, as a cinematic highlight film add-on. Available in premium packages or standalone.

How do I inquire and book?+

Send me an inquiry and I will follow up with a discovery call. A 30% retainer locks in your date.
