Toronto is the most architecturally diverse city I shoot in Canada, and that diversity is a gift for wedding photography. The Distillery District gives you warm Victorian brick and European-feeling cobblestone. Yorkville gives you polished urban luxury. The waterfront gives you the lake and the skyline together. Couples getting married in Toronto have access to a visual vocabulary that most cities simply do not offer — and the wedding vendor community here is exceptional, which means the whole day runs well. I come to Toronto for the weddings and stay for the city. Every time.

The light

Toronto's urban environments — the glass towers, the industrial brick, the converted heritage buildings — create a range of portrait contexts that are genuinely exciting to work in. The light in the Distillery District on a clear afternoon, bouncing between old brick walls, has a warmth that is completely different from anything you find in a natural setting.
