Canadian Rockies elopement photography works on two timeframes: the single-morning session, which is the most common option for couples who are in the area for a few days, and the multi-day itinerary, which is what I recommend when a couple has flown in from elsewhere and wants to use the full range of what the Rockies offer. Both versions produce excellent work, but the multi-day itinerary gives a visual range that a single location cannot match.
The Single-Morning Session
The single-morning session runs from before sunrise to approximately ten in the morning and covers one primary location, typically Ha Ling viewpoint, Grassi Lakes, or Spray Lakes, plus the valley floor alpenglow views on the way in. I deliver the full gallery. The ceremony, if there is one, happens at the primary location during the alpenglow or the first clear light of the morning. This option works best for couples who are based in Calgary or Banff for a larger trip and want to add a mountain elopement session to the itinerary.
The Multi-Day Rockies Itinerary
The three-day Canmore itinerary I recommend most often runs like this: day one covers the Canmore valley floor and Spray Lakes; day two covers a Banff park location, typically Lake Louise or Moraine Lake on the permit; day three covers Ha Ling or a Kananaskis alpine location. The three-day version gives the pastoral valley, the iconic turquoise lake, and the high-elevation alpine meadow in sequence, and the visual range across those environments is what makes a full Canadian Rockies elopement story genuinely comprehensive.
