Quebec City Elopement Packages

What full coverage of a Quebec City elopement looks like, from a morning in the Old Town to an afternoon on Ile d’Orleans, and what each element adds to the visual story.

Quebec City elopement photography works best when it covers more than one setting, because the city itself has two distinct characters: the stone Upper Town inside the walls, and the pastoral river island environment of Ile d’Orleans twenty minutes away. Most of my Quebec City couples do both in the same day, and the visual range between them is significant.

A Quebec City elopement day typically starts at the gates or the Terrace before seven, moves through the Old Town streets, and then shifts to a secondary location in the afternoon.

Old Town Morning Coverage

The Old Town morning session runs from approximately six-thirty to nine and covers the Dufferin Terrace, the fortification walls and gates, Petit-Champlain in the Lower Town, and the Place-Royale area. This session produces the stone-and-cobblestone European city images that Quebec City is known for. I photograph the ceremony, if there is one, during this window, typically in the Governors Garden behind the walls or on the Terrace before the boardwalk fills. Everything in the Old Town is walkable and the transitions between locations take minutes.

Place-Royale: the oldest stone buildings in the Lower Town cluster around this square, and the narrow lanes leading off it give the most European-feeling streetscapes in the city.

Ile d’Orleans Afternoon

Ile d’Orleans across the bridge from the city gives the contrast that a full Quebec City elopement story needs. The island has vineyards, farms, orchards, and a shoreline with the Quebec City skyline and the Chateau Frontenac visible on the horizon across the water. I typically drive couples to the island after the morning session, use a vineyard on the south shore and the river viewpoint for an afternoon session, and have both environments covered in a single day. The pastoral setting with the historic city in the background is an image relationship that no other city in Canada offers.
