Toronto
A complete companion to eloping in Toronto: every location, every legal step, every figure, in one place.

Toronto gives you more visual options per square kilometre than any other Canadian city. Victorian brick in the Distillery, heritage mansions in Rosedale, the Ontario countryside an hour north, the lake at the south end of the city. An elopement here can look like a dozen different things depending on which direction you drive.
I have photographed elopements across the city and the surrounding province: heritage mansion staircases in October, open fields in August late light, village churches outside the city where the maple trees are already turning while the city has not noticed. This is the ground I know, gathered for couples who want to do it properly.
The Directory
Everything I have filed about eloping in Toronto and Ontario, organized by what you are trying to figure out. Start with the planning guide, then come back for the specific pieces that answer the questions that come up.
Real Elopements
Four elopements from my Toronto archive, written the way I remember them: the light, what was decided in advance, what happened that nobody planned. Open any card to read the full story.
The Ledger
A Toronto elopement well done, officiant, florals, accommodation, and a good dinner, typically runs between $1,500 and $3,500 before photography. This builds an honest supporting-costs estimate from the ground up. Photography is quoted separately based on your specific day.
Likely between $1,575 and $1,925

The Timeline
The legal process in Ontario is simpler than most people expect. A marriage licence, an authorized officiant, two witnesses, and a location. This is the order I walk every couple through, from the first decision to the day itself.
Date, location, and photographer
The three decisions that determine everything else. Book these first. Good October Saturdays in Toronto go well ahead, and your photographer fills on the same timeline.
Book your officiant
Ontario requires a marriage licence obtained before the ceremony and an authorized officiant. Your officiant handles the paperwork but you need to be booked before you can begin.
Obtain your marriage licence
Available from any Toronto municipal office for approximately $145. Valid for 90 days from issuance. Bring government-issued ID for both partners.
Walk the location
I walk every elopement location with the couple before the session day. We chase the light at the exact hour we will be there. This is where the plan becomes real.
Be unhurried, stay present
Your only job is to live it. Everything else is already arranged. I bring the city home with you.
The Company I Keep
The officiants, florists, restaurants, and hotels I recommend to couples eloping in Toronto. Every name here has been vetted directly. If you want a warm introduction to any of them, mention it when you write.
Ask and I will make warm introductions to the officiants, florists, and restaurants I trust in this city.
Questions
The questions I hear most often from couples planning a Toronto elopement, answered plainly. If yours is not here, it will be in my first reply when you reach out.
